What *Else* Are We Drinking Now? Mythology Foragers Botanical Gin

James is keeping cool (and being cool) with Mythology's Botanical Gin. Mythology Foragers Botanical Gin It's 90 degrees and the sun is shining, summer has officially arrived in Denver! That also means our friends at Mythology Distillery have once again released their Foragers Botanical Gin, produced in collaboration with the Denver Botanic Gardens*. Doesn't get more local than that folks. Featuring a delightful blend of juniper, coriander seed, orris root, grapefruit, star anise, and sage, this lovely little gin sure packs in the flavor. There's no better way to beat the heat this summer than with a refreshing gin [...]

What Are We Drinking Now? Boulder Creek Distillery Straight Bourbon

For the good of all of us, Fleur is sharing her Sacred Old Fashioned recipe. I adore Old Fashioneds all year round, but this blustery weather beckons for something a little more soul-warming, something fairly special, something oh-so-pretty to sip while accolading ourselves for getting through one helluva year: My Sacred Old Fashioned featuring Boulder Creek Distillery Straight Bourbon will soothe as well as celebrate. Bold aromas of nutmeg and clove will lure you into the most velvety, radiating, soft heat and lovely rounded oak...truly a beauty to behold. What Are We Drinking Now? Leopold Bros Aperitivo

Drew has embraced the complexity of Leopold Bros Aperitivo. The Leopolds’ take on a traditional Italian aperitif is beautiful, bright, and best of all…..BITTER. Grapefruit peel and coriander dominate the mix, but this light liqueur is complex. Backed by botanicals such as artemisia pontica, common to vermouth and absinthe, there is heady, herbaceous nuance in every sip. This stuff CRUSHES CAMPARI! Try it in your next Negroni or Boulevardier, or in a simple spritz with sparkling wine. And, second best of all (first best is the bitterness, if we recall — there will be a test), you can buy it [...]

What Are We Drinking Now? A Boutique Tequila: Arette Artesenal “Suave” Blanco

Arette Blanco has been my go-to tequila for years, and this selection from their boutique "Artesenal Suave" line is incredible. The Orendian family has been producing high-quality tequilas in Jalisco since 1900, and master distiller brothers Eduardo Sr and Jaime hand-pick the finest organic agave to be fermented in concrete for their boutique line. The result is a standout blanco — clean and complex with some natural sweetness and fruit tones. HIGHLY recommended if you love the budget-friendly classic blanco in your margaritas — this one is a must-sip! Arette Artesenal "Suave" Blanco $54.99/btl

What Are We Drinking Now? “Wow. Just… wow.” Denver Distillery Gin

"Wow. Just...wow." — Heidi (and you, after tasting this gin) Here at the shop we are excited that we now carry Denver Distillery, a small-batch, grain-to-glass project. With summer heat in full swing, I have been enjoying their New American style gin with soda and a touch of lime. This botanical gin boasts nineteen flavors. On the nose it has floral tones of lavender and jasmine. In the finish it reveals notes of pink peppercorn and coriander. Enjoy this spirit's complexity with a simple splash of soda or tonic, but don’t be afraid to play with the many flavors it [...]

What Are We Drinking Now? Mythology Botanical Gin from Denver, CO (that’s pretty close by!)

Mythology makes this botanical gin, but the exquisite flavor is anything but mythological. Time to batch out a giant g&t and go look at some plants. For those unaware, our beloved Denver Botanic Gardens is back open, and this timely collaboration with Mythology uses ingredients grown inside the gates. This gin is fresh and zesty, with mild peppercorn and bright citrus. My next move is to see how it stands up in a martini, but i think it's a fair presumption that a beautiful thing awaits. This summer release is available for a limited time, so why are [...]

What Are We Drinking Now? Nobushi Japanese Whiskey

Kevin has been experimenting with Nobushi Japanese Whiskey. We are publishing his discoveries here. Nobushi is a blend of whiskeys from the Miyagi and Nagano prefectures. This stuff is delicious: Lots of floral and citrus notes go extremely well with the hints of caramel and vanilla. I've had this straight, on the rocks, and in a few cocktails — try as a sub for Cognac in traditional cocktails like a Sidecar or Corpse Reviver, or make a badass highball and enjoy your life. You won't regret it. $49.99/bottle
